Study on Seventh-day Adventist Theology of Health by a Catholic Professor

English translation: The Sanctified Life: Body and Identity among Seventh-day Adventists

Feichtinger, Christian. Das Geheiligte Leben: Korper Und Identitat Bei Den Siebenten-Tags-Adventisten. Göttingen: V&R Unipress, 2017. 241 pp.

Seventh-day Adventists are among the fastest-growing and most widespread Christian denominations worldwide. Their characteristic features are not only the observation of the Sabbath and the imminent expectation of the Second Coming of Christ, but also a specific lifestyle orientated towards health and longevity. Based on interviews with members of an Adventist church in Austria, the author offers insight into self-understanding and lifestyle of Seventh-day Adventists. The interviews are contextualized within a historical and theological analysis of Seventh-day Adventism. The Adventist church is thus characterized on the basis of three related dimensions, first a historical-systematic, second a social, and third an individual perspective.”
